Server Case Was Born
Server Case was started by Richard Parry as an eCommerce reseller, initially with a single supplier. Server Case was initially started as a sole trader and a side-line company to Richard’s other businesses and to generate business quickly.
Richard sold his software and web hosting business to focus on Server Case. In 2012 we took on our first dedicated facility, a 650sq/ft unit in Tamworth. We also started to import our own range of chassis, Logic Case. Richard also brought on Mark Jarvis as co-director for business development.
Logic Case proved hugely successful. Introducing a product portfolio into the UK and Europe which hadn’t previously been available. We started to include custom server builds into its service portfolio, proving to be very successful. We took on our second 650sq/ft unit directly opposite us on our trading estate.
We hit a financial milestone of £1.1m sales turnover, with staffing of only three people. Our Logic Case range gained increased market presence and we introduced our first server configurator online, allowing customers to build their own servers with ease. We also welcomeed Market Lambert to the team as our Sales Manager.
The Next Generation
A lot happened for us in 2016. We moved to our new 7500sq/ft purpose built facility on the outskirts of Burton on Trent, we expanded our team and hit a new £1.7m sales turnover milestone. Our new facility included a 2500sq/ft air conditioned build facility, specifically designed for the safe and efficient assembly of server systems - a part of the company that was rapidly growing.
Early 20017 we partnered with In-Win as their UK distributor. We also firmed up our relationships with other vendors. We welcomed more staff including our first technical manager, Andrew Mclean.
Our market presence for OEM continues to grow and we win some major contracts for the supply of custom chassis. Bespoke server system solutions also continues healthy growth and the Serverstore platform strengthens this offering with customizable servers and accessories. We attain Intel Gold Partner status and become registered Asus, PNY and NVIDIA partners.
Intel Platinum Partnership
Plans are made for a workstation brand focused on AI and digital content creation. A full warehouse renovation is completed with a full racking system and a new forklift with training and licence for the operations team. Our intel Gold Partner status is elevated to Platinum and we secure NVIDIA Preferred Partner status for Pro Visualization. We graduate from Asus partner status to Asus Gold Business Partner.
Continued Growth & Expansion
In spite of the pandemic we continue to adapt and invest, taking on a technical apprentice – Conor Doherty. Sales manager Mark Lambert receives a directorship and Lee Barlow takes over as sales manager. Plans for a company restructure are put into place with a summer 2021 launch in preparation. New vendor relationships planned for security software, network and liquid cooled products. The build room receives a major upgrade with the addition of 4 purpose built test racks with KVM’s increasing capacity and efficiency.
New Company Structure
The Server Group becomes our parent company enabling us to clearly differentiate our two main business arms: Server Case for bare metal and bespoke OEM server manufacture & Server Store for tried and tested, off the peg solutions. Velocity is launched as our systems brand for all servers, workstations, portables and compute appliances. The unit next door becomes vacant and we purchase, effectively doubling our warehouse capacity.
